This site has been occupied since Roman times, and the main building that now stands here was built in 1620. Owned by the National Trust, the house was once used to display a local businessman's extensive art collection. A lovely collection of period furniture is now on display. Don't miss the small, immaculately manicured garden that is just a stone's throw from the famous York Minster.
