The third Earl of Burlington, Richard Boyle, designed this grand Assembly Hall, which, at the time of completion, was the social heart of York. With an astonishing 48 Corinthian columns and elegant appointments, it certainly was a mecca for the rich, well bred and famous. Today, you can still roam the halls or enjoy a meal in one Ask, an Italian restaurant located within the rooms themselves. The hall is also used for council functions.
