3. Festival of Food and Drink

The Buzz -- Calling all foodies: York's annual Festival of Food and Drink takes place over ten days in September each year, with the aim of promoting local and regional food and drink. The festival takes place in and around York's unique historic venues, and consists of taste workshops, cookery workshops, lunches, dinners and demonstrations. It's great for children, teaching them about not just cooking and nutrition but about food miles, fair-trade and the realities of farming. Most events sell out so book tickets in advance to prevent disappointment. All money raised goes to their community programs.
