8. Zagreb funicular & Strossmayer Promenade

Zagreb's funicular may be one of the shortest at just 66 meters, but its 55-second ride (progressively more exciting the younger you are) will take you to another world, far removed from crowds of the Lower Town. The journey starts at Tomićeva Street, just off Ilica. Exit a few meters away from the Lotršćak Tower and right in front of you is the Strossmayer Promenade, offering some wonderful panoramic views over Zagreb's rooftops and extending to Kaptol and the rest of the Old Town with its restaurants and cafes.   (© 10Best)
