Situated 30km NW from Zagreb, this little village is the home of one of Europe's prime, open-air ethnological museums. You'll find perfectly preserved 19th-century thatched houses, some complete with original tools for crafts and trades such as blacksmithing and candle making. Please contact in advance to arrange a guided tour. Kumrovec's most famous resident was, of course, Marshal Tito. His house is the most frequently visited and is still the site of reverence, especially around May 25th and May 4th, dates of his official birthday and of his death, respectively.
