Having originated in Croatia in the early decades of the 20th century, Naive Art is unique in its democratic stance, namely that everyone has the right to artistic expression. This museum mainly features Croatian artists, many of the original Hlebine School, but also includes some foreign representatives. Joyful, expressive, childish, dark, political, politically incorrect and sexual, these depictions of peasant lives and mainly rural landscapes will surprise, dazzle and thrill. While the gallery shop has the usual T-shirts, mugs and posters, their original motifs should nevertheless make it a valuable stop on your souvenir hunt.
