2. Maksimir Park & Zoo

A short tram ride east of the city centre will bring you to a vast expanse (by Zagreb's standards anyway) of woodland, meadows, lakes and tree-lined pathways, dating back to 1794. At the eastern end is the Zagreb Zoo and across the busy main road stands Dinamo's football stadium. It is all very subtle and civilised if you skip the football crowds. Catch trams 11, 12 for Dubec to the Bukovačka stop.   (© 10Best)
