Dominated by the instantly recognizable roof of St Mark's Church, this small but mightily important square is also the site of Banski dvori – the seat of Croatian government, the prime-minister's office, Croatian Parliament and Croatian Constitutional Court. The vividly coloured roof tiles of the church depict the Croatian, Dalmatian and Slavonian coats-of-arms and also the Zagreb city emblem.
