2. International Folklore Festival

The Buzz -- For over 40 years, each and every July, the streets of Zagreb turn into a collage of national costumes and sounds from as far as Malawi and as near as Zagreb's Šestine. The main stage erected on Jelačić Square provides many of the troupes with an adoring public of folklore enthusiasts, children with grandparents, teens, tourists and passers-by. Other concerts, dances and exhibitions take place at various venues throughout town, a great opportunity to visit some of the more unusual spots like Gliptoteka and Puppet Theatre, so check the official website for specifics.
