9. Takenoko

Finally, Zagreb has its very own minimalist Japanese 'fusion' restaurant with a sushi bar to match. You will find it on the street level of the trendy Kaptol centre. Despite the sophisticated décor of polished dark wood and evocative lightning, Takenoko doesn't think it's too cool for school – there is a detailed description of all the dishes in several languages. Pricey it is, but teppanyaki by head chefs Moto Mochizuki and Mario Starman will certainly be worth it. A free added bonus is the quality people-watching.   (© 10Best)
