8. Stari Puntijar

One of several restaurants dotted along the road to Sljeme, north of the city, Stari Puntijar comes particularly recommended, and not the least for its treasured wine cellar, for it is a proud guardian to centuries-old culinary tradition. Previously owned by the Puntijar family for 160 years, the restaurant now has a small museum of gastronomy added by its present owner, Zlatko. Try Turopolje steak or any of their game dishes; your meal should go perfectly with the medieval decor of old chandeliers, candles and hanging armoury to awaken your inner knight.
