8. Mimica

One of the last bastions of social-realist style, Mimica is the Croatian equivalent of fish & chips and one of the very few authentic fast-food joints. (Croatians believe you should sit down when you eat, take your time, and chew your food properly). Nevertheless, Mimica will treat you to exquisitely cheap portions of fried whitebait and calamari with fries and a few slices of fresh white bread, while you stand or sit on bar stools sipping house wine.
