5. Ilica and Frankopanska Street

Some of the two storey buildings on central Ilica – Zagreb's longest street – have still not given up their social realist image. Others, however, got themselves a makeover and now treasure goodies by recognisable names like Mango and Lush, as well as reputable Croatian brands (see Image Haddad (Ilica 6) and Heruc Galerija (Ilica 26)) where you can kit yourself out in some quality and reasonably priced tailoring. Follow the tram tracks turning off from Ilica and these will take you to Frankopanska, the home to globally revered labels such as Lacoste, Diesel, Gaultier, Galliano, Mochino, as well as UK and European high-street brands.
