Denver Downs Farm Corn Maze comes in second

Each autumn farms across the United States transform their corn fields into interactive mazes, perfect for a fall family outing. There are more than 500 of these mazes across the nation (visit Corn Mazes America to find a maze near you), but 10Best Local Experts and Editors narrowed it down to 20 of the most exemplary, both for the quality of the maze itself and for the wealth of other activities on offer.

  • Swank Farms Corn Maze
    Hollister, Calif.

    Bonnie Swank of Swank Farms has personally designed each corn maze for the past 17 years. This year's maze will have visitors searching for 27 hidden spots to complete a story on their maze maps. The farm also hosts a fall pumpkin patch, as well as a kids corner with games and activities for the little ones.

  • Summers Farm Cornfield Maze
    Frederick, Md.

    In 2015 Summers Farm Cornfield Maze honored Taylor Swift. In 2016 the maze celebrates The Baltimore Orioles in 12 acres of corn. A pumpkin patch, campfires, a pumpkin cannon, pig races and wagon rides are among the other family-friendly fall attractions at the farm.

  • Great Vermont Corn Maze
    Danville, Vt.

    Located on a third-generation family dairy farm, the Great Vermont Corn Maze has a "Mazer" theme in 2016 – it's the largest corn maze in New England. Other fun on the menu includes barnyard golf, a petting zoo and 100 feet of indoor, underground tunnels to crawl through.

  • Tom's Maze
    Germantown, Ohio

    Winding through 8 acres of corn, Tom's Maze has guests searching for 12 puzzle pieces hidden throughout in a celebration of the American farmer. Other attractions include a goat boardwalk, pumpkin train, hay bale maze for little ones, pumpkin cannon and a pumpkin patch.

  • Cornbelly's Corn Maze
    Lehi, Utah

    Cornbelly's Corn Maze celebrated its 20th year of fall fun in 2015 (maze pictured), and this year's Peanuts-themed maze celebrates another anniversary: the 50th anniversary of It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. Theres also a grain train, kiddie maze, hayrides, zip line and a host of other activities for fall.

  • Devine's Corn Maze
    Harrodsburg, Ky.

    Devine's Corn Maze in Kentucky is encouraging everyone to get out and vote this year with a maze depicting a Democratic Donkey and Republican Elephant. Other activities include hay rides, bon fires, a petting area and zip lines.

  • Cherry Crest Farm Amazing Maize Maze
    Ronks, Penn.

    Cherry Crest Farm Amazing Maize Maze comprises 5 acres and more than 2.5 miles of paths, with plenty of clues, bridges and other interactive elements along the way. In addition to the maze, the 15-acre farm offers more than 60 rides and activities, including a U-Pick Fall Market.

  • Farmstead Corn Maze
    Meridian, Idaho

    Idaho's original corn maze, the Farmstead MAiZE, gets carved across an 18-acre cornfield into a new design each year (2016 maze pictured). Along with mazes, there's a pumpkin patch, hayrides and a host of family-friendly games and activities including a potato sack slide, small zip line and catch-and-release fishing pond.

  • Denver Downs Farm Corn Maze
    Anderson, S.C.

    Denver Downs Farm Corn Maze (2014 maze pictured) is honoring Charlie Brown in the Peanuts gang with this year's maze. Other fall farm activities include hay rides, a corn cannon and some 35 other family-friendly activities.

    Mercer, Penn.

    The 2016 Coolspring Corn Maze in Mercer, Pennsylvania takes inspiration from one of the year's biggest crazes, Pokemon Go. Visitors to the farm also enjoy a hay maze, hay ride, mechanical bull and many other family-friendly activities.
