10 Litchfield Park Restaurants For Eating Well on Phoenix's West Side

Litchfield Park may not be a the top of many foodie travel itineraries yet, but this small, affluent village just west of Phoenix is putting itself on the local food map.

For a special lunch, dinner or brunch, consider Litchfield's, located at the historic Wigwam Resort and Spa. The restaurant is currently under the leadership of chef de cuisine Jason Paterno, and the menu emphasizes locally sourced, farm-to-table fare that is both simple and elegant.

When the suburbs get you daydreaming about escaping to France or Italy, save your plane fare and head to Ground Control, a local Litchfield Park favorite that has been compared to a European-style cafe and coffeehouse. This hybrid cafe-coffeeshop-wine bar and gastropub offers a full menu of breakfast, lunch and dinner options, as well as cheeseboards, an extensive wine list, pastries, and even homemade gelato.

If you're looking for a good breakfast spot in Litchfield Park, swing by the Park Cafe. The charming, rustic eatery offers a freshly prepared Southwestern-inspired breakfast and lunch entrees. Try the chilaquiles – lightly fried corn tortillas served with a savory tomato sauce, onions, sour cream and a fried egg. You don't have to be a vegetarian or vegan to enjoy a meal at Loving Hut. This all-vegan restaurant features a diverse menu of American comfort food and globally-inspired dishes. Fresh ingredients and ingenious preparation ensures that even the most ardent meat-lover won't miss a thing. Appetizers, salads, soups, entrees, desserts, and variety of specialty beverages can make it hard to pick from the extensive menu. Try the Hawaiian Burger, made with the house soy patty, pineapple, onion, mushroom, vegan butter, teriyaki sauce, lettuce, tomato, and veganaise, served with a side of crispy French fries. The Old Pueblo Cafe and Pub is located near the historic Wigwam Resort and Spa in the historic downtown village of Litchfield Park. With a climate controlled outdoor patio and high reputation for quality Sonoran-style Mexican food, it's no wonder that this charming Mexican food cafe is nearly always crammed with locals. The menu was created by Chef Ernestina Borquez, who has been preparing her secret family recipes in the west valley for over 40 years. The Sonoran-style hot sauce, pico de gallo, carne asada and homemade flan are all house favorites. The comfortable outdoor patio is perfect for enjoying evening dinner with friends and family. EEST Asian Bistro is a West Valley bistro serving modern Chinese cuisine, including popular Cantonese-style dishes. Chef specials include General TSO's, which features chunks of deep-fried chicken served in a spicy house sauce. Another popular option is the Grilled Salmon Steak served on a hot iron plate dripping in a savory house black pepper sauce. For vegetarians, try the Pillow Tofu, a lightly fried scramble tofu served with mushroom and diced shrimp with the house side on the side. For starters, try the crispy fried wontons and veggie spring rolls - both of which are delicious and make a nice start for any meal.

Lovers of Chinese food in the Litchfield Park area will direct you to a favorite neighborhood mom-and-pop cafe specializing in tasty Chinese take-out: The China Red Cafe. The cafe has a small dining room, as well as fast take-out and online ordering. Popular menu items include the Kung Pao chicken, orange chicken, and the Asian Seafood Bird Nest, which features stir-fried tender scallops, Chinese vegetables in garlic sauces, and juicy shrimp. The crab puffs, fried rice and wonton soup are consistently tasty and earn rave reviews from regulars. The cafe is known for its generous servings and great lunch specials, so swing by around noon for good food and good deals.

This charming breakfast and lunch cafe is located in a tranquil section of Old Litchfield. The cafe features a rustic and stylish dining room with exposed brick, bicycle-inspired decor and wooden tables. The menu features classic American comfort fare and Southwestern-style entrees. Breakfast specialties include the South of the Border omelette, chilaquiles (corn tortillas cut in quarters and lightly fried then topped with cheese, tomato broth, sour cream, onions and a fried egg), and gourmet burritos. Sandwiches, salads and Mexican food specialties are on the lunch menu. For sweet tooths, there is yummy French toast and daily selection of fresh-made baked goods.

5. Reds Bar & Grill

Red's Bar & Grill, located at the swanky and historic Wigwam Resort and Spa, got its name from The Wigwam's venerated head golf pro of 42 years. Red would surely be proud of this fine bar and grill, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner overlooking the beautiful arched palms and rolling greens of the resort's historic Gold and Patriot golf courses. The menu features soups, sandwiches, burgers, pulled chicken and other American favorites, as well as a full drink menu. The bar opens up to a spacious patio, perfect for relaxing and chatting with friends. Behind the bar, you'll find several local microbrews on tap.

4. Thai Orchid Garden Restaurant

Thai Orchid Garden Restaurant is a family-run restaurant owned and operated by the Aphaisuwan family, whose restaurant brings a nice dose of traditional Thai culture and cuisine to the west side. Dishes are cooked to order, for hot mouth-watering plates loaded with fresh veggies, herbs and spices Guests are encouraged to personalize all plates to their desired spice level. Menu highlights include the restaurant's fried shrimp rolls, Thai-style barbecue chicken, and a good selection of curries. The restaurant also features a large vegetarian menu. During the day, the restaurant has a budget-friendly lunch menu, with many options priced under $10.

3. Ground Control

If you're looking for a quaint, European-style coffee shop that will help you escape the grind of daily living, you've found it at Ground Control. This hybrid coffee shop-gastropub-wine bar has brought fabulous food, homemade gelato, craft beers and boutique wines to the West Valley. The dinner menu features pizzas, salads, burgers, sandwiches, and entrees such as Wood Fired Atlantic Salmon, and Wood Fired Lemon Herb Chicken, and French Dip. Also popular are cheeseboards, which come with a fresh baguette, dried fruit, nuts and can be paired with wine from the extensive menu. Ground Control also serves breakfast, lunch and a glass case filled with decadent deserts.

Fabio on Fire sounds like a steamy romance novel, but it's actually even better than that. This charming Italian restaurant and bakery is home to some of the best wood-fired pizza on the west side. Northern Italian-born chef-owner Fabio Ceschetti delivers thin, Neapolitan-inspired pies that feature gorgeously crispy-chewy edges. The Capricciosa is a stand-out pie made with veggies, prosciutto, and San Marzano tomatoes. The menu also features great pasta dishes, including lasagna and tagliattele Bolognese. Don't leave without checking out the bakery counter, featuring a strong selection of Italian cookies and desserts. Even better? Nearly everything is made from scratch.

Located inside the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Litchfield's is a casually upscale restaurant offering "farm-to-table" cuisine. Many dishes feature ingredients picked locally from the restaurant's own Farmer's Market and organic garden. The rustic-chic ambiance lends itself well to special family dinners (the dining room boasts a large, communal farm table for group dinners), but it's also a nice spot for a cozy dinner for two. If you're looking for something a little more casual, the Wigwam is also home to Red's, a popular bar & grill. Please note that the restaurant is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
