The flavors and textures of Mexico City come to life at this new Modern Mexican restaurant, created by James Beard Award-winning chef Jose Garces, one of the nation’s hottest young culinary talents. Located inside the hip new Saguaro Hotel in downtown Scottsdale, Distrito offers a taste excursion to Mexico’s busy distrito federal.
Most of us are familiar with Mexican food specialties like tamales, tacos, and tortas. But have you savored authentic Mexico City-style street food? Distrito, the hot new restaurant from superstar Chef Jose Garces, offers a wide selection of street food specialties, such as tacos, huaraches, and tortas. The menu is also heavy on slow roasted meats, served with traditional Mexican sides. The food is cooked in a custom outdoor smoke pit in Distrito’s innovative “patio kitchen,” and the overall ambiance here is loose, fun, and hip.
Guests will enjoy Chef Garces’ innovative two-course menus, which allows you to sample one appetizer and one entrée for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Acompanamientos, or sides, include ejotes (green beans served with confit cherry tomatoes, queso blanco, roasted garlic, and the house lemon vinaigrette), frijoles charros (pinto beans slow-cooked and smothered in tomatoes and bacon), frijoles refritos (refried beans) A chef tasting is also available for $30. The extensive drink menu features margaritas, specialty cócteles, Mexican Sangria, and a wide assortment of cervezas and wines by the glass. Did we mention that dessert is also served? Try the authentic Tres Leches cake, a cornmeal cake served with roasted pineapple and coconut sorbet.
