This Eastside eatery is tucked away on Old Spanish Trail, a scenic desert road that's just a stone's throw away from Saguaro National Park. Come here to bask in mass plantings of silvery green agaves, desert sage and wildflowers. Of course, there are also plenty of saguaros to spot on this side of town - those tall, stately (and prickly!) icons of the West - which are preserved inside the park. If you're lucky, you might spot a band of javelinas through the restaurant's picture window.
The restaurant has been fine-tuning its menu since it opened earlier this year. Saguaro Corners specializes in "Sonoran fusion," which can be described as the best of Mexican and Southwestern culinary traditions, offered up with a modern twist.

There are already plenty of menu stand-outs, including the tamale pie. Imagine the mouth-watering carnitas fillings of a traditional tamale baked inside a corn pie and served with a cool, luscious avocado crema and a side of chorizo mac and cheese. It's a Southwestern spin on comfort food that your taste buds won't soon forget.
Speaking of carnitas, the carnitas tacos also pack a flavor punch. The soft flour tortillas are stuffed with slow braised pork with a savory mix of house spices, including a splash of beer and touch of orange. The tacos are served with cilantro, chile verde and freshly chopped white onion.
Another good taco option is the shrimp tacos. The pan-seared shrimp is dressed in a zesty chipotle cream and served with thinly sliced cabbage, green onion, cucumber and the house salsa. Vegetarians will appreciate the calabacita tacos. These veggie tacos are filled with Mexican zucchini, roasted corn, red onions, garlic and a yummy Mexican cheese blend.
But Saguaro Corners' regulars know that the Jaime Taco is the star of the taco menu. It's served in a deep-fried corn shell that's stuffed with spiced ground beef, lettuce, house salsa and cheese.
If you're craving a sandwich, try the grilled chimichurri steak sandwich. This spicy treat is made using grilled chopped steak that's cooked with peppers and onions and then topped with pickled fresno peppers. It comes on a soft teleras roll that's perfectly seasoned with a creamy goat cheese spread.
And if you're in the mood for a good burger, try the Aztec Burger. It's made with an eight-ounce local beef patty topped with cayenne-candied bacon, chorizo queso fundido and fried jalapeño chips. Chances are, you've never had a burger quite like this one!
Make room for drinks and dessert too. Margaritas are a house specialty at Saguaro Corners, and there are 16 beers on tap. For dessert, the Mexican milk and cookies are a real treat. It's a plate of freshly made churros, served with spiced chocolate milk and topped with whipped cream.
