If time is really tight, though, and you don't have the leisure to look through all our offerings, we present our Hot Springs Best Nightlife list. Here, we distill the best businesses down to a special selection of ten. These places promise a stellar experience and a taste of the city that you just can't miss.

8 Long Shot Saloon
Long Shot - "a horse or team with little chance of winning," or "best saloon and dance club in Hot Springs." The latter is a safe bet for a guaranteed good time every day of the week and on into the wee morning hours. The Long Shot Saloon draws a regular crowd of fiercely-loyal patrons that welcome newcomers, but really could not care less if they come or not. It lacks the live music scene the most Hot Springs clubs are popular for, but serious clubbers all agree - it lacks nothing! (501-622-0396)

7 Lucky's Bar & Grill
Welcome to Lucky's Bar & Grill, where the music plays every day and there is never a cover charge! Dancing, pool, arcade games and karaoke provide entertainment during the week, while DJs spin tunes between live music sets on weekends. Adventurous revelers enjoy one of the best shot menus in town and nightly drink specials ensure all thirsts are quenched. Appetizers, burgers and sandwiches are available, but the informed visitor will go for Lucky's wonderful hand-tossed pizza. (501-622-2570)

6 The Poet's Loft
As the name implies, poetry is the main jam at this unique emporium of eclectic entertainment. The Poet's Loft has a long tradition of offering a stage to artisans of the spoken word and other performing arts. In fact, their weekly "Open Mic Night" is said to be the world's oldest poetry event of its kind! The focus shifts to music on the weekend, with acoustic jam nights and a promising new venue for aspiring musicians, the "Singer/Songwriter Showcase." (501-625-7704)

5 Capone's Ohio Club
The former den of iniquity was not owned by the famous gangster, but his favor was such that today it goes by Capone's Ohio Club. Built in 1905, the little building stands out among its taller peers with a dome-roofed bay window over the entrance, and imparts a cool vintage atmosphere. Live bands and acoustic musicians perform upstairs in an appropriately dark but comfortable lounge area. A nice panini and an after-dinner cigar complete an evening. (501-627-0702)

4 The Big Chill
The hottest night spot in Hot Springs for live music fans, The Big Chill is "the" place to do just that! Music plays six nights a week in this popular local hang-out, where you'll enjoy top touring performers and must-see local favorites like Dayton Waters and Rena Wren. Whether your preference is blues or funky old soul, you're as likely to hear it done right at "the Chill" as any big-city listening room. (501-624-5185)

3 Maxine's Live Music Venue
A former brothel run by a madam of the same name, Maxine's is all about the music. The little pub hosts acts of various genres six nights a week and has become a major player in Central Arkansas' live music scene. They feature top touring acts as well as local musicians, lending support to local music efforts like the Spa City Blues Society. It's the kind of place where you never know who will drop by and jam! 2 Boot Scooter's Kountry Club
Line dancing is the ticket at Hot Springs' most popular Country and Western club. Don't worry if you don't know how, the friendly folks at Boot Scooter's Kountry Club are happy to teach you. The DJ spins "Two-step Tunes" and "Belt Buckle Shinin' Ballads" until around 2am, when the mix broadens to include a few hip-hop and dance tracks. Things get a little rowdier on weekends with great live music of various genres. (501-760-3434)

1 Martini's on the Bay
Described by owners as an "Upscale Martini Lounge," Martini's on the Bay really is a step above the rest. TV screens above the bar face all directions, and seating all the way around promotes socializing. Comfortable booths conducive to quiet conversation create a perimeter around the bar area. There's also a nice dance floor if you are so inclined. Timing determines whether your view from the covered deck is a picturesque sunset or Lake Hamilton by moonlight. (501-525-0885)
