Downtown Palm Springs offers a wealth of flavors, but if it’s wood-fired pizzas or fresh contemporary you’re after, look no further than Matchbox Palm Springs.

This second-floor pizza bistro is located in the heart of Palm Springs, offering a picturesque perch for people watching on Palm Canyon Drive. Matchbox is perhaps best known for its artisan pizzas, all of which are made with fresh dough that’s made daily in-house and then heated to crispy pizza perfection in the wood-fired oven.
House creations range from the veggie (roasted garlic, oven-dried tomatoes, artichokes, mozzarella and pesto) to the prosciutto and black mission fig (with gorgonzola and black pepper honey).

While the pizzas are one of the main draws at Matchbox, you’ll also want to dig into their popular sliders. Offered in plates of three, six or nine, the mini burgers are tender, cooked-to-order patties of Angus beef with toasted brioche buns, pickles and onion straws. Other popular starters include the charcuterie plate (prosciutto, coppa, sopressata, goat cheese, burrata and Mediterranean veggies) and the beet salad with goat cheese fritter and candied walnuts.
To wash everything down, don’t miss Matchbox’s impressive craft beer offerings. The restaurant dedicates handles to craft brews from around the world, ranging from IPAs to Belgians. Can’t make up your mind? Opt for the flight and try six of the current beers.
Unlike many other Palm Springs restaurants, Matchbox is open all summer long. Pop in for happy hour from 5-6:30 p.m. in June-December and 4-5:30 p.m. from January-May.
