While desert temperatures will hover firmly in the 70s and 80s this winter, Palm Springs
still knows how to celebrate the holiday season. One of the best places in the desert to get into the holiday spirit is The Living Desert,
a popular zoo and botanical garden in Palm Desert.
Each winter, The Living Desert transforms into a winter wonderland. The WildLights Festival brings more than 750,000 twinkling holiday lights to the zoo, and this year's "Holidays Around the World" theme will bring new displays and international food and beverages to the festival.
In addition to enjoying the light displays and the expansive G Scale Train Model Display, guests can watch trained zoo animals perform in the Wildlife Wonder shows. Depending on how brave you're feeling, you can ride real camels for $2 or their inanimate counterparts on the Enchanted Carousel. There are also evening animal encounters where guests can get up close to some of the zoo's nocturnal animals. Santa will also be making nightly appearances, in addition to holiday musicians.
