Those crossing the border or craving a day of pampering have a new lifestyle destination to frequent in San Diego's San Ysidro district. Duty Free City is not just about what its name implies. The retailer's 14,000 square feet are dedicated to unique, one-on-one services and interactive shopping experiences in an elegant atmosphere inspired by Spanish Colonial architecture.
Shoppers can expect the most sophisticated beauty and lifestyle brands, including the entire Estee Lauder Group (Clinique, Smashbox, etc.), Furla leather goods and more.
Shoppers can purchase cosmetics, skin care, fragrances, watches, handbags, eyewear and other accessories, as well as wine and spirits.
Personal shopping, manicures, pedicures and hair styling are available for booking, but guests are encouraged to spend time relaxing in the wine bar or cigar lounge before calling for valet-parked cars.
"I am very excited to positively impact the future of luxury retail along the U.S. and Mexican Border and enable travelers and members of local communities to have an exceptional shopping experience," says CEO of Duty Free City, Philippe Dray.

Kids aren't left out, either. In addition to the onsite Kids Town and confectionary area, there's a Travel Bug Kids Club offering a variety of events and activities for kids of all ages throughout the year, making heading to the border a family affair.
Duty Free City will celebrate its opening with festive events on Thursday, Nov. 6, starting with activities for adults and families to enjoy from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Bring the kids for cotton candy, popcorn, face painting, arts, crafts and more, in addition to complimentary hair and beauty services like haircuts for all ages.

In the evening between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., VIP guests will walk the red carpet to enjoy an exclusive Duty Free City experience, joined by fashion and beauty movers and shakers from both sides of the border.
Handcrafted hor d'oeuvres and wine will be served to music performed by the world-renowned Gypsy Kings as well as other popular DJs.
Arrive early, as the first 50 guests will receive a gift bag with an assortment of luxury items courtesy of Duty Free City.
And, this is just the beginning. The company plans to continue to elevate the duty-free shopping experience by opening more stores across the USA, including locations at both the Mexico and Canadian borders. The San Ysidro location will operate as Duty Free City's flagship location. Duty-free pricing will apply only to those crossing the border.
