Puesto actually has two locations in San Diego, this one and another at The Headquarters downtown. It's an upscale, fast-casual eatery that serves authentic Mexican food made from whole, high-quality ingredients. All meals are made to order based on the diner's tastes. The menu focuses on a variety of Guisados (grilled foods) that include fish, shrimp, chicken al pastor, carne asada and gourmet Mexican vegetarian items like zucchini flower, corn truffle and soy chorizo potatoes. They've updated the menu to indicate which options are gluten-free, but cooked in a kitchen that contains gluten. Gluten-free diners say that Puesto staff understands the needs of gluten-free diners and takes steps not to heat tortillas on the same grill as those with gluten, changing gloves, and more.
