Montreal's newest hotel, the ALT Hotel - Montréal Griffintown, opened in the spring of 2014. So far, the no-frills-chic ALT Hotel is the first to open in Montreal’s trendy Griffintown, an up-and-coming area with easy access to both downtown and Old Montreal.
Located a short walk from the Old Port and the Lachine Canal and close to the city center, the hotel is set in the perfect location for both leisure and business travelers.

All rooms offer stunning views of either downtown, Old Montreal or the St. Lawrence River. The great views continue from the outdoor patio on the seventh floor, while a fully equipped fitness room remains open around the clock.
Need a snack? Head to the grab-and-go ALTceteria. Bar and lounge areas can be found off the main hall. Also, the hotel offers board games that are free to borrow on request.
The hotel comprises 154 ultra-comfortable rooms decorated with works of art by local artist Pascale Girardin. All 18 floors are bathed in natural light, set in a building made of aluminum panels and bricks recycled from old buildings in the neighborhood.
Other green initiatives for the Alt Griffintown include huge thermal windows with low emission rates, water heated by geothermal energy, central switches in the rooms to allow lights to be turned off remotely and recycling bins in all rooms and public areas.
In an effort to create a strong tie to the hotel's surrounding community, the lobby is decorated with a mural depicting the city’s citizens, markets, architecture and well-known icons. It spans three walls, and it's composed of nearly 1,200 colorful photographs, including those screened in real time on Instagram by 70 local amateur and professional photographers.
The regular room rate is $149 per night for either a double or a single room, and children under 12 stay for free. However, there is a supplement of $20 per night for each additional person. Well-behaved and well-trained dogs are welcome, too, but there is a supplement of $30 per stay.
Room amenity highlights include free wireless internet access, flat-screen televisions, work areas with ergonomic chairs, Keurig coffee machines, 100% Egyptian cotton bedding, goose down duvets and spa-style baths with glass showers. Versatile rooms feature a shower-bath combination.
