With over 34 years in business, the BeaverTail brand certainly knows a thing or two about creating a unique pastry that will have you devouring it in seconds, and certainly coming back for one or two more. The ever so delicious thing about a beavertail is not just the fact they're served piping hot and topped with any one of your favorite sweet toppings but that they are a whole-wheat pastry that is stretched into a perfectly shaped beaver tail.
What makes this whole experience unique is that Grant Hooker's family created the unique recipe that has evolved into the beavertail today. For three generations the Hooker family created a yeasty, cracked wheat baking-day treat that was loved by the family and of course had to be made into an iconic Canadian tradition. The tradition of the beavertail continues to expand throughout Canada and the Sates, and has been enjoyed by the President, royalty and tourists alike. It is the perfect treat if your sweet tooth starts putting up a fuss. And if you ever wondered just how much chocolate hazelnut spread the company goes through each year, it's around 21.1 tons, which is "equivalent to the weight of 5 elephants and 12 beavers."
Take a stroll down Clifton Hill and get your hands nice and sticky as you fall in love with this tasty treat.
