Historic Sites: The official residence of the Canadian governor-general since 1865. Built in 1830, this stately mansion includes a ballroom, cricket pitch and skating rink. It also serves as the guest residence for visiting dignitaries. Sentries of the Governor-General's Foot Guards and the Canadian Grenadier Guards are posted outside the main gate during the summer. Free guided tours of the public rooms and grounds are conducted. Please call for the days and hours of the tours.
