Kaiseki is a traditional multi-course Japanese meal of small seasonal dishes that balance artful presentation with flavour. Toronto is home to a handful of kaiseki restaurants, but this one located in the Japanese Cultural Centre, might be the most authentic. Chef Hashimoto draws on his decade of master chef training in Japan to prepare an ever-changing menu of surprises that are as much a feast for the eyes as they are for the mouth. You'll enjoy sashimi, broiled meat dishes and interesting vegetable preparations. Reservations are a must – there are only eight seats and ingredients are ordered per diner. Not a cheap meal at $300 a person, but definitely a memorable dining experience.
