Outdoor movies in the park are becoming a summer tradition in Vancouver, drawing more movie buffs each year. This free event is a great way to wind down from a long day and relax in one of Vancouver's pristine parks. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, some snacks, refreshments and something to keep you warm and you're ready for an outdoor flick.

Stanley Park's outdoor theater at Second Beach hosts a number of movies on a weekly basis throughout the warmer months and the movie starts at dusk. However, it's a good idea to get there early and grab a spot. Located just off from the Seawall, it's easily accessible by foot or bicycle. You can also drive into the park, but you may end up parking further away than if you take public transport or go by foot.
This year's line up in Stanley Park is as follows:
July 31, 2012: Grease
August 7, 2012: The Blues Brothers
August 14, 2012: Monty Python and the Holy Grail
August 21, 2012: Labyrinth
August 28, 2012: Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

Over in Yaletown's David Lam Park, you will find another outdoor theater set up for the fifth year running. This year it's presented by James Schouw & Associates on a massive 40' x 20' screen that plays your favorite 80's classics. This event is on Sunday, August 19th (August 26 is the rain date) from 8:30 pm until 11 pm. Again, it doesn't hurt to get there a little bit early for a good spot.
At both locations, please make sure to pick up your garbage when you leave and bring a flashlight to help guide your way when the parks get dark. Grab your friends, get cozy and enjoy the free outdoor flicks in Vancouver!
