Home to the largest performing arts center in the country, and seven distinct neighborhood art districts, Denver is quickly becoming a national hot spot for art of all mediums. And on the first Friday of every month the Mile High City's arts districts come alive for First Friday evening celebrations. During these evenings galleries stay open late, many serve up free wine and cheese, and a street party like atmosphere prevails as crowds meander between the storefronts. If you only have time to hit up one neighborhood, make it the Santa Fe Arts District, which pioneered the First Friday art walk in Denver and features up-and coming and off-beat artists at its galleries. Plus afterwards, there are a few excellent breweries within walking distance and these usually have food trucks attached.Other popular arts districts include Cherry Creek North and RiNo.

- Free Things to Do: "Denver has some seven different art districts. If you don't have time for all try either the classic Santa Fe Arts District or head east to tony Cherry Creek North, which has the greatest concentration of quality high end and established galleries."
- Best for Free Things to Do Because: Even if you don't make a big art purchase, this is a fun free way to spend a part of an evening.
