Now you’ll find original art and one-of-a-kind accessories in this sunny and invitingly cool shop on Puerto Viejo’s main road. Whether you’re shopping for yourself and your family or in the market for souvenirs for friends and loved ones back home, Luna de Febrero has locally handmade gifts for everyone.

A fun addition to Luna de Febrero is Monkey Bizness, whose one-of-a-kind bags are locally handcrafted and comprised mostly of recycled materials. This fall, a batch of wallets and purses made with Dia de Los Muertos ("Day of the Dead") fabric are a seasonal treat for girls and boys, a Puerto Viejo-made tribute to this widely celebrated holiday.
Distinctive painted portraits of the people and wildlife of the Caribbean are Melina Achu Luchetta’s specialty. Find her paintings of Puerto Viejo scenery hanging above Costa Rican wood handicrafts, which are among the commemorative souvenirs of a trip to Costa Rica.
But truly, who couldn’t use both a work of art to hang on the wall, a polished wooden box and a rocking wine bottle holder?
Rounding out the new batch of locally made arrivals, Luna De Febrero has begun stocking Talamanca Chocolates and cacao products, plus the complete line of Garden Botanicals, whose Jungle Juice Bug Repellent is a must-have for a tropical rainforest retreat.
As the coop expands, good and goodies from more emerging local artists and crafters will likely be found at Luna de Febrero, and the weekly feria (farmer’s market) will no longer be the sole source for a diverse array of locally made products.
In addition to the influx of arts and crafts, Luna de Febrero continues to carry the Caribbean’s best selection of casual clothing, especially sundresses; Pura Vida emblazoned short shorts; and flip-flop favorite Brazilian brand Havaianas sandals.
Men, too, will discover an impressive rack of duds dedicated to them.
Luna de Febrero is open seven days a week, but with hours that vary slightly from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Look for Luna de Febrero on the lower level of the two-story Puerto Viejo Shops complex in the center of town on the main street in Puerto Viejo de Limon.
