Eat Your Heart Out at Puerto Viejo's Most Romantic Restaurants

The Caribbean coast of Costa Rica is oozing with the certain type of charms that make you fall head over heels in love. The most romantic restaurants feature the freshest local ingredients and take advantage of open-air settings that seem to encourage nature to take its course. Outside tables at Sobre las Olas in Cahuita let you sink your toes in the sand as you watch the sunset over the sea, and the ceviche here is as fresh as can be. In Puerto Viejo de Limon, the Lizard King Resort's pancakes are legendary, swoon-inducing stacks of deliciousness best shared the morning after a good night's sleep. In Cocles, look for the wooden sign that points to La Pecora Nera down a green path, where the Italian chef has a sixth sense for romance and knows just the wine to pair with whatever his special dishes of the day are. The open-air gazebo in the rainforest is perhaps the most romantic place to dine in Costa Rica. Couples can book intimate wedding dinners at the picture-perfect Jungle Love Garden Cafe, where a couple originally from California has created a dreamy escape for lovers in the tiny beach enclave of Playa Chiquita.
