Throughout winter, Washington, D.C. residents are forced to layer up in order to stay warm during the bitter cold that swoops down on the area during the first few months of the year.
When we are finally able to semi-retire our coats, hats and gloves, what are we going to wear?
While the district's colors are known to be red, white and blue throughout the year, many go for pink when springtime arrives – to match the beautiful blooms that annually brighten up the nation's capital.
To celebrate spring's arrival, The National Cherry Blossom Festival is held annually with this year's month-long event set for March 20 through April 17.
While you are still dreaming of spring, and before the buds bloom, get your official festival merchandise at their online store by heading to ncbfstore.org.
Each year, the festival releases new official artwork and this year's features the blossoms prominently along with three renderings of iconic D.C. buildings: the Washington, Lincoln and Jefferson memorials. The artwork has been placed on multiple items including clothing, posters, mugs and drinkware.

If pink is your signature color, you're in luck because every item has either a dash of the sweet shade or is bathed in it. Clothing for both men, women and youth are available and include t-shirts, hoodies, hats and outerwear. Adorn your new looks with jewelry choices like bracelets, earrings, necklaces, pins and rings.
Kids will want the toys that include head boppers with cherry blossoms on springs, a kite or a teddy bear in a cherry blossom kimono. Book lovers can remember their time at the festival every time they open one of their favorite stories by purchasing bookmarks.
Toast the new season with several choices of drinkware including ceramic shot glasses, mugs or tumblers. Need something to carry around all your new stuff in? Head to the bags and totes section where you can find different vessels covered in beautiful flowers.
