Located in the heart of Oakland Park, Florida's newly upgraded Culinary Arts District is the very fun and very lively Funky Buddha Brewery. For beer lovers, this 40,000-square-foot facility is South Florida's largest craft microbrewery, where each of their distinctive beers is brewed carefully - using just the finest, all-natural ingredients - and served unpasteurized, unfiltered and, as they say, unfussed with.
This recently opened hot spot is located north of Downtown Fort Lauderdale, and complements this up-and-coming part of the city of Oakland Park, just off Dixie Highway and NE 38th Street (Park Lane East).
The Funky Buddha Brewery & Lounge was founded in Boca Raton, Fla. in 2010 and became known to the area for its commitment to producing bold craft beers that bring together culinary-inspired ingredients with time-honored technique, offering beers with big, bold flavors and made exactingly with natural ingredients.
It is here where they still brew and it is at this location that is still their test kitchen for their more experimental brews.

Discover Funky Buddha's 30-barrel, three-piece brewhouse, which feeds nearly a thousands gallons of beer per batch into two 120-barrel and four 60-barrel fermenters. Come in for a tour, watch first-hand and sample the beers in their spacious tap room, which is open seven days a week, noon until midnight.
Their list of beers is most intriguing, and for beer lovers (and perhaps those who aren't beer lovers yet), reason enough to make this a regular stop.
Their year-round beers include unique, enticing and even playful names that will catch anyone's attention, such as Cabana Boy Wheat Ale, Doc Brown Ale, Floridian Hefeweizen, Fuhgeddaboudit Red Ale, OP Porter, Red Dawn Red Ale – just to name a few. A seasonal list includes Blueberry Cobbler Ale (Who could resist this one?), Bonita Applebum and (ideal for the holidays) Sweet Potato Casserole.
For those beers exclusive to the Funky Buddha Brewery, try the American Pale Ale, the Atlantic Giant Belgo-Pumpkin Ale, Clifford's Big Red Ale, Ghost Dog Whit and so many others. Also, look for what is currently on tap, special releases and brewery exclusives.
Don't forget, too, that Funky Buddha's brews can be found throughout South Florida via Brown Distributing Company. Go to their website to find out where.
Something unique about the Funky Buddha Brewery is that it is family! Aside from being a bar, the owners stress that this is a community hub where locals get together and enjoy the community spirit and the family-friendly environment. Behind the tap room is a full-size bocce ball court that is open to the public. Also available are corn hole courts, a life-size Jenga, a projection screen and a foosball table.
Please remember that children must be supervised and are permitted in the tap room from noon to 8 p.m. every day, but are never permitted on tours or in the brewery itself.
Parking is free here, on the south side of NE 28th Street. Additional parking is located on the east side of the building. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, too, in the outside patio area. None are allowed in the tap room.
