A veritable Disneyland of brewskis, World of Beer - which is part of a Florida-based chain - has set up shop right across from Sloppy Joe’s on Greene Street in Key West. A beer aficionado's dream, the spacious open-air bar offers a 17-page beer menu with 64 brews on tap and a mind-boggling 500 plus in bottles or cans. Choose from more recognizable favorites like Samuel Adams Boston Lager to more obscure selections like Lexington Brewing Co. Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. The knowledgeable staff can help you pick something from around the world to fit your fancy, and they are happy to let you taste-test the drafts. If you want to try several beers all at once (and still be able to walk), the draft flight is an excellent option. This spot has become a fast fave of the gluten-free crowd, as there are usually about nine different choices like Omission Pale Ale.
Local musicians liven up the place, and the outdoor patio with a smoking section is perfect for those who want to indulge in a stogie from their cigar selection. Is there someone in your crew who absolutely doesn't like beer? No worries: there’s a nice selection of wine as well. And while their food menu features limited tavern fare like hot dogs and German pretzels, they allow you to order delivery from any of the other local restaurants.
A fun time to try new drafts with a $1 discount is during happy hour, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. weekdays, and their Thursday Ladies' Night really should be called Ladies' Day. It’s half off all wines and select drafts from open to close.
With plenty of light-bodied and crisp brews that are perfect to beat the Key West heat, World of Beer might have you lingering here longer than planned.
