Boutique hotels have seen somewhat of a rebirth in Miami's South Beach of late. The retro, Art Deco-styled buildings with the vintage interior fashions and fittings have been a popular alternative among beach-goers who don't want to stay in the overcrowded beachfront hotels where service is often sacrificed.
The Gale South Beach property originally opened for business in the '40s, enjoying some great years before an overall neighborhood decline led to the property's abandonment. Fast forward first to 2012, and the Gale's main location – complete with on-site restaurant, bar, club and pool – wrapped up renovations and opened for business.
Due to great initial success, they went on to complete development on a neighboring property in late 2014, known as the Gale Suites at Kaskades.

The main point to note about boutique hotels is the over-the-top service. Upon your check-in in at the Gale, an attendant will take you and your bags across the street to the Kaskades property. As you pass through the gates, a cedar aroma overtakes your senses, and you're immediately calmed.
The attendant gladly walks you through the many state-of-the-art amenities that each suite comes infused with. He gives you the card of the Gale's free shuttle service that will take you anywhere in South Beach. You're now officially at home in South Beach.
It's worth taking a deeper dive into the aforementioned amenities. To start, a tablet is provided that operates the lights, sounds and temperature of the entire room, as well as the blinds. It also controls the 55-inch, wall-mounted flat-screen TV complete with 90 HD channels and music.
You can take this tablet with you to the pool and watch TV there, as well. There's also a 17-inch television in the bathroom vanity mirror.
The bathroom. Oh, the bathroom. It's an all-tile, three-section marvel.
The closed off toilet room, complete with heated seat and bidet, is an unexpected comfort. The double-sink vanity is nice, but the real kicker is the shower/bath area that doubles as an aromatherapy steam room with customizable scent options. You can literally run full spa treatments right out of your room.
And that's not all. Some rooms have private balconies that feature Japanese soaking tubs. There's nothing more relaxing than popping a bottle of champagne and sitting outside in a warm bath tub, with jets hitting all your soar muscle spots. This is where the Gale Suites at Kaskades really wins guests over.
All that talk about the room, and nothing yet about the surroundings. That just goes to show you how truly special and unique the suites are. Along with the rooftop pool, guests can also enjoy the ocean, where the Gale has partnered with a neighboring hotel to provide guests access to beach chairs and towels.
For shopping and dining, Lincoln Road is a short walk away. To reach destinations that happen to be a bit further, take advantage of the Gale's shuttle service.
In all reality, though, between the luxuries of the Gale Suites at Kaskades, the on-site dining and the late-night club, you really don't have to step off the grounds.
