Lounges

Nightlife with a touch of refinement is what you'll experience when you frequent Miami's best cocktail lounges. These upscale places lend themselves to sophisticated evenings out, and their stylish furnishings and interiors promote conversation and relaxation. For a taste of what Miami offers, visit Purdy Lounge, which is known for its inventive cocktails, or lounge about in Bardot and discover the ambience that 10Best users appreciate. A great place for a date or an after-hours business meet-up.

10 Bardot
Live music, album/CD release parties, DJ bashes and other activities of a musical nature await at this hip Wynwood lounge. Bardot fills a void in Miami culture by providing the venue and the menu, which includes funk, electronic, blues, singer-songwriter and more. Cocktails--at $12, less expensive than most South Beach bars and lounges (that means affordable by Miami standards) range from the signature Honey Mule (Russian Standard Vodka, Honey Syrup, Pressed Lime & Hand Crafted Ginger Served in our Signature Copper Mug) to the Skinny Jeans Margarita (Corzo Silver Tequila, Cointreau, Organic Blue Agave & Fresh Lime Juice) to the simple Brown Sugar Mojito (Bacardi dark, Brown Sugar). Top-shelf liquors abound. Overall, even if you're not into the vibe of a particular musical guest, the experience at Bardot has come to define Miami's Wynwood and Design District nightlife. 9 Purdy Lounge
Avoid the crowds on Ocean Drive and head to Purdy's, an off-the-beaten-path location with a loyal following. If the scene grows old or if you are simply not in the mood for the nocturnal fray, Purdy's offers just the antidote. The lounge has an appealing retro rec-room aesthetic — you'll think you've entered your best friend's basement circa 1975. (Think lava lamps, funky chairs and assorted board games!) Play some checkers, backgammon, or even good ole Connect Four as you enjoy a pleasant mix of music and some of the lowest drink prices around. (305-531-4622)

8 Mynt Lounge
Upscale, exclusive Mynt is a bastion of SoBe cachet. Its sleek, spacious interior and custom-designed furnishings establish an otherworldly vibe, perfect for the beautiful patrons and celebrities who often hold court here. The Grand Lounge, complete with 40-foot bar, is open to all, but the Plexiglas-shrouded Ultra Lounge is reserved for special attendees. Well-known DJs spin house and hip-hop tunes, and an aromatherapy system infuses the air with a variety of scents — mint, of course, remains the hands-down favorite. (305-532-0727)

7 Soyka
Trendy décor and an inviting bar, equipped with roomy couches and chairs, flank this popular eatery. Pizzas are baked to perfection in a wood burning oven, and staples like meatloaf and roasted chicken are served with a heaping portion of mashed potatoes. Although Soyka tends to draw a professional crowd, it's a spot that will make anyone feel at home. The wine list features a ample selection of wines available by the glass. (305-759-3117)

6 Club 50 at Viceroy Miami
Located on the 50th floor of the Viceroy Hotel in Miami, Club 50 is the hottest pool party in South Florida. The pool was originally built as a club house for hotel VIP's, but today it is open to the public and is the location for fantastic drinks, wonderful food, and a pool party unlike any other. The views of Miami are jaw dropping and the people and staff are friendly and welcoming. Check out this one of a kind venue and remember to bring your thirst and your swimming trunks. 5 The Hoxton
Tagged as an "urban beach house," The Hoxton was named after the well-known street in London and designed to evoke a British summer by the seashore or at The Hamptons--take your pick. New England seafare, ranging from lobsters rolls to peel-and-eat shrimp, served hot or cold, keep things relatively light, though you can sit down for a proper feed with a New England clam bake or buttermilk fried chicken. A large rectangular bar is popular with the business district happy-hour crowd, who also take advantage of the slip-covered sofa settings. After 9 or 10 p.m., live musical entertainment begins, an eclectic array that varies from bluesy bands to internationally renowned DJs. With 6,000-square-foot of indoor and outdoor space to fill, the Hoxton can get pretty loud, so don't expect to go here for coffee and conversation. It's cocktails and cray-cray all the way. 4 Blackbird Ordinary
One of the best casual hipster-esque lounges in Miami, Blackbird Ordinary offers its patrons a fully stocked bar with expert bartenders who mix your favorite drinks to perfection. DJ's provide the music and there's a dance floor for those with the appropriate skills set. Blackbird goes out of its way to make its visitors feel like regulars, even if its their first go-round. They have pool tables, spacious comfortable booths, and even board games to entertain you while you wait for your meal. ((305) 671-3307)

3 Van Dyke Café
While the Van Dyke pulls in a cafe-society crowd of locals with its vast menu, it also boasts terrific live jazz in its upstairs venue. Downstairs and outside in the evenings, you'll see the usual crowd: hipsters with purebred dogs lapping water under the cafe tables; families with strollers; gorgeous twenty-somethings gathered for a pre- or post- partying bite. But upstairs is a completely different arena. A speakeasy-like ambience reigns, complete with rich fabrics, upholstered seating, and a beautiful oak bar. Sophisticated older couples often gather to enjoy the soothing stylings of quartets and vocalists, all the while nursing cocktails and nibbling on baked brie or prosciutto and melon. An intimate escape from SoBe's crush and the city's neon-and-pastel gloss. (305-534-3600)

2 Cafeina
Nestled in the heart of the Wynwood Art District, Cafeina is singular. A joint lounge, gallery, tapas-style restaurant and event space, the eclectic hotspot layers art upon nightlife upon celebrated cuisine for something completely different. On deck they have everything you would ever need for a great night out, all in one location: a fully stocked bar serving the most divine drinks in south Florida, a beautiful art gallery, specious lounge rooms, a great restaurant, delicious coffee to fuel your late night partying, and upstairs the joint even has its own speakeasy. 1 Magnum Lounge Piano Bar
Billing itself as a New York style Piano Lounge, The Magnum Lounge has great music, show tunes, piano work, and delicious food all under one roof. The staff make you feel like you're a regular even if its your first go-round. Everything about Magnum culminates into an upscale and swanky ambiance that keeps you captivated. Many come for the food, but they all stay for the music and the atmosphere. (3053435429)
