Bakeries: Along with its incredibly tempting selection of sweets, cakes and pastries – Danish to éclair, pound cake to scone (even sweet Nutella empanadas on occasion) – this unassuming little Oviedo bakery is a coffee lovers' haven, serving up delightful, frothy and/or cream-topped cups of artisan, micro-roasted batch brews. And yes, there's hot chocolate, too. The menu here changes daily, which is the wonderful nature of local bakeries, but you can stop in for breakfast and lunch, as well. All sandwiches are served on breads baked in house and you never know what will be on-hand to take home for dessert. If you can resist eating it on the premises, that is.
Local Expert A.D. Thompson Says:
Bakeries: "De Azúcar is happy to craft custom goodies for your event, Give them a a call. While not certified, they offer up gluten-free selections, as well."
Best for Bakeries Because: Flaky croissants, dense bread puddings, creamy flan. De Azúcar sells the sweet and the savory and a comfy place to sit while enjoying them.
