There always seems to be a lot happening at City Place in Downtown West Palm Beach. The mix of shops, restaurants, clubs and bars make it one of the most attended weekend meccas for locals and travelers. Catering to its clientele, who always seems to want something new and exciting, City Place continually welcomes interesting new businesses and concepts into the fold.
The newest is Copper Blues Rock Pub & Kitchen, situated on the second floor of City Place next to Improv Comedy and the movie theaters. The tagline here is beer, music and food, and they do each quite well.

Beer wise, the joint has over 60 on tap, including the best local crafts (think Due South & Funky Buddha), micro-brews, IPAs, etc. The tap lines are seemingly endless as they wind around the bars, much like the copper pipes running through the exposed ceiling (which actually carry the beer). The glare of the many visible stills reminds patrons that this is a drinking establishment. Come for happy hour daily from 3-7pm to try these drafts out at a reasonable price ($1 beer shots available for sampling). It's not just the beers that are getting people excited though. Copper Blues mixes up some great craft cocktails as well (Hint: try the Whistling Dixie).
For music, the stage is right behind the bar and taps. Local favorites in the genres of rock and blues are booked from Wednesday to Saturday (sometimes there are multiple acts per night). Haven't heard of The Goodnicks or Mouth Tape? Check the schedule, come by and check 'em out.
For food, delicious bar bites (with South Florida flair), and American grub are served. Healthy options are available for those who are already concerned about the calories packed into the heavy craft drafts. Some early favorites are the turkey pot pie and the beer braised chicken drumsticks.
Indoor dining will get you close to the music, but like most City Place eateries, al fresco dining is offered. This allows guests to experience the sights and sounds of the sprawling nightlife scene. Copper Blues also has a lush beer garden, adding a third layer to the eating and drinking experience.
The moral of the story on Copper Blues is this - it's a new and exciting music venue, gastro pub and beer dispenser located in City Place. If you like beer, food and/or music, this is a place you will enjoy, if not love.
