City Place in downtown West Palm Beach has been seeing a lot of new construction, remodeling and storefronts as of late. The latest addition is French fragrance and body oil boutique L'Occitane en Provence. The environmentally conscious, all-natural producer of smells, scents, oils and lotions has its new location across the way from Panera Bread and the movie theaters on the ground level.
The history of the fragrance boutique is storybook; the creator used to extract oils from rosemary and peonies in the valleys of South France, selling his craft in local markets before exploding onto the national scene. There is now a L'Occitane boutique in every major city in the world. Since the Palm Beaches like to consider themselves on the forefront of style and trend, they obviously needed one stat.

Some of the most important inputs to the products at L'Occitane include peony, cherry blossom, lavender, rose and milk and honey. They use all-natural ingredients and often package their goods in recyclable, environmentally friendly packaging.
One of the hottest products at the West Palm Beach location is the Angelica daily moisturizer cream, crafted especially for skin that faces off against the warmer weather.
Being that many of the visitors to the store will be travelers, be on the lookout for their travel-size collections. Not only do you receive travel-sized portions of their best fragrances and oils, but you also get to tote them around in L'Occitane's hip bags.
A place with a name this French specializing in fragrances doesn't sound like it would be a man's cup of tea. Most would rather be left to roam one of the many bars and restaurants that City Place offers than to be forced to walk inside this shop.
Think again. L'Occitane has top-notch male grooming products like shaving kits, soaps and body creams. Look up their male products on the Interwebs, and you'll see five-star reviews across the board.
Just to tout this boutique's social consciousness once again, check this out: for products that utilize shea butter, the boutique has entered into fair trade partnerships with women that produce the butter in sub-Saharan Africa. (It's a profit-sharing arrangement.) Pretty cool, right?
City Place will continue to have new and exciting stores pop up over the coming months (teaser), but for now, L'Occitane en Provence is the greenest. Come check out one of the world's most popular natural fragrance boutiques the next time you venture to City Place.
