The Space Coast in Florida has a long strip of hotels and B&Bs along the coast, as well as a few scattered inland. But one small, locally owned bed and breakfast stands out from the rest.
One peaceful inn backs up to the water with its own boardwalk, tucked within a bird sanctuary, creating a truly unique experience that highlights the region’s natural splendor.
Crane Creek Inn Waterfront Bed and Breakfast in Melbourne is the place to go for a serene, personal getaway on the Space Coast. In fact, it claims to be Melbourne’s only waterfront boutique lodging option.

This B&B, owned by local couple Andy and Bambi Durik, is ideally located just a block from downtown, within walking distance to some of Melbourne’s best restaurants, shops, art galleries, antique stores and bars.
No need to rent a car (although parking is included in your stay); Crane Creek offers airport shuttle service, too.

Back at your room, you'll find fine linens and cosmetic products, private decks and patios and uniquely decorated rooms, all with private entrances and restrooms. All rooms face the water and include air conditioning.
The Duriks take the second “B” part of B&B seriously, and they offer guests a large menu of more than 10 hot breakfast offerings to choose from – all made fresh to order. You may find yourself feasting on omelettes, fresh fruit, bacon, fresh-squeezed juice and more.

Crane Creek Inn goes far beyond typical B&B offerings, and its menu is just the beginning of that.
You can borrow DVDs from the movie library. Guests can also use the on-site computer, printer and other amenities of a hotel business center, including free wifi. By day, Crane Creek can hook you up with beach gear, including towels, chairs and umbrellas.
The B&B offers many of the conveniences of a big chain hotel, but with the intimacy, personality and attention to detail of staying at a hospitable friend’s house.

Within the lushly landscaped property, you can walk along or fish from the boardwalk, and you might very well see a dolphin or manatee swim past your feet.
Or cool off in the private swimming pool, where you may be serenaded by relaxing music, before curling up with a book in the hammock; the owners have plenty of books to lend out. (Best to do your splashing in the pool, since the water has been known to house some gators. Or better yet, rent a kayak.)
In the evening, melt your stress away in the waterside hot tub, and take advantage of the 24/7 drink service, which includes complimentary beer and wine.
