Everything here is big: the food menus, the bar menu, the building size, the styles of food and the taste.
Rarely can a restaurant offer such a wide selection and not feel diluted, but Matt’s Casbah in Melbourne, Fla., manages to expertly juggle fine dining with the hip, after-hours crowd, as well as global food with a homey, Space Coast feel.
The varied menus here – the restaurant has six, plus a happy hour menu – have a reputation for great sushi. In fact, Matt's claims to have "the best sushi in Brevard County.”

Or, instead, you can warm your belly with homemade turkey soup. Indulge in a seared fish cake sandwich with chipotle tartar sauce or bacon-wrapped scallops. Find everything here from pasta to hamburgers to flatbread pizza to flamed cedar plank salmon to a beef tenderloin with red wine reduction sauce.
Oh, yeah. You can also order ostrich here, served with raisin chutney and red wine demi.
Finish up your meal with crème brûlée or flaming coffee, made table side.
Or cater your next event with a “sushi surfboard” to go.

Like the large menu selection, Matt’s Casbah itself is a varied and expansive restaurant. Enjoy your meal in the fashionable dining room, decorated with art that is available for purchase; at the sushi bar; or outside on the patio, where you can watch the sun set.
Beware (or get excited): Patrons are permitted to smoke cigars on the patio, and you can even pick up a cigar on-site.
Swing by after work, and you’re sure to meet a vivacious crowd taking advantage of happy hour specials (until 7 p.m.); live music on the patio most nights; and live DJs on weekends.
Enjoy lazy Sunday afternoons with jazz on the patio and a cocktail, or a glass from the wine cellar. Or come for the Sunday brunch menu for oysters, crepes or “A Really Good Burger” (which includes cheese, ham, pickled hot peppers and fried onions).

Matt’s Casbah seems to always be holding a special event, from “beer dinners” to Valentine’s Day specials to a luau with a whole roasted pig.
It can get packed on weekend nights, so it’s best to call ahead and reserve a table.
The restaurant is named after traveler and founder Matt Nugnes and in memory of the historic Pop’s Casbah restaurant that used to be located in downtown Melbourne.
Matt’s Casbah is a local favorite and a must-visit on your next trip to the Space Coast, whether you’re heading to a romantic night out, having a good time out with friends or just feeling indecisive and want to be sure to leave with a happy belly, no matter what you order.
