However, once you peek inside, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how lovely it really is. Tavern 99 has several rooms, and the main room has a stage for live music with plenty of high-top tables. There’s also a private dining room where owner, Francisco Vidal, sometimes serenades guests with his lovely guitar music while they dine.
There are plenty of diverse offerings at Tavern 99. Start things off with cherry-rubbed baby back ribs and peach-glazed shrimp, The ribs are tender and meaty, and the shrimp is deliciously served over a fried grit cake. Next, try the bruschetta and beefsteak caprese; it's very fresh and the balsamic and herb oil completes the dish. Definitely put it on your “must try” list when you visit Tavern 99. If you like gyros, you’ll want to try Tavern 99’s version: a deconstructed gyro. The individual gyro pieces are topped with garlicky hummus and a strategically placed piece of pita bread.
