Lunch: Yes, there is always a line. That's because Taqueria del Sol is always good, regardless of date or time. Don't let the wait discourage you--management keeps the crowds moving. Tacos, margaritas, queso, enchiladas and some amazing shrimp corn chowder are the items to get. We're impartial to the Memphis taco (chopped smoked pork with spicy jalapeno coleslaw and tequila BBQ sauce)and the shredded beef brisket taco served with pico de gallo. Specials are daily occurrences. If the fried chicken happens to be the special, even if you're leaning toward Mexican food. Get it. It's truly delicious stuff that you won't see coming.
Best Restaurants: At face value, Taqueria del Sol's various locations look like any trendy Mexican joint with their industrial, renovated gas station get-ups, low prices and straight-forward menus. But then you see the line--a regular fixture at all times of day, at all locations. What's the hype about? The food is incredible--fried chicken tacos, spicy bbq tacos, beef enchiladas with red sauce, an incredible shrimp corn chowder and exceptionally delicious (though random) fried chicken with mashed potatoes and Sriracha (a special). Service is friendly, fast, and above all, efficient. Plus, there's none of that numbered Mexican plate stuff going on here. If you want a taco, you order a taco (not a #45a). If you want rice and beans on the side, order them yourself.
Best Value: The line out the door of people waiting to eat here is evidence of how popular this is. Taqueria del Sol serves quick and easy Southwestern food that is so good you'll be convinced the cashier under-charged you. Made-to-order fare is prepared right at the counter, and you can have your taco stuffed with tasty ingredients like chopped smoked pork, tilapia rolled in corn masa, or chicken breast with lime jalape?o mayonnaise. Heartier appetites can go for one or two beef brisket enchiladas and, perhaps, a side of Mexican rice, turnip greens or jalape?o coleslaw. Don't miss the shrimp corn soup either.

Lunch: "If you're in a huge hurry, call in your order in advance and pick it up at the bar. Or, if you're ordering four items or less, you can walk straight up to the bar and order your food to go--you'll be out of there quick!"
Best Restaurants: "There is always a line, but it moves fast. The best advice is ordering a margarita at the bar, then getting back in line. It moves much quicker with a drink in hand."
