Ask a Savannahian where to find the Thomas Square Streetcar neighborhood, and he or she might give you a blank stare. Though the moniker is not well known, the area encompasses a large portion of the city, from the southern end of the Victorian District to the start of Midtown at Victory Drive. The neighborhood, which was designated a National Historic Landmark District in 1997, is comprised of beautiful late 19th-century houses, neighborhood cafes, shops and galleries. The Starland District may be more familiar to locals. Located within the confines of the Thomas Square Streetcar neighborhood, the district occupies land that once housed the Starland Dairy and is today a hub for the city’s creative minds.
