Vintage Wine Bar & Bistro opened recently in Athens on central Mitropoleos Street, very close to Monastiraki. Located in an elegant space, the nightlife spot's a pleasant surprise for wine lovers and more. The style is French 1960s, and the name was chosen because there are many - you guessed it - vintage wines on the list.
The team of wine and food experts at Vintage are full of passion for their work, and this is obvious in every small detail. Many wines are tasted before they are served, as they explain, and many are made to age. Wine develops and patience is repaid by a unique taste experience.
There are no recent wines on Vintage's Greek and international list. The "newest" offerings are at least 10 years old, whilst the oldest is a French label from the '70s. A cool cellar guarantees that all the wines will be preserved at the right temperature.

At Vintage Wine Bar & Bistro, you can enjoy a meal or a glass of wine. Thanks to the special Coravin appliance, more than half of the wines on the list - which amount to two hundred - can be tasted by the glass without opening the bottle. Sample white, red and rose from many countries all over the world. The quality represents the best production, and the drinks are at the right age to be tasted and enjoyed to the maximum.
The wine list is arranged according to the taste, with a detailed description for each, and specific dishes are served with each type of wine so as to exalt the overall taste experience. A summer example could be mixed fried seafood with fresh herbs and lemon rind, accompanied by a white champagne.
The menu includes varieties of cheese, dried fruit and olives, all which combine ideally with specific wines, enhancing the experience. All the ingredients are homemade on the spot, even the butter, which can contain cocoa, herbs, beetroots and more and are exclusively seasonal. A must-try is the dish with double-cooked potatoes with salmon or ham. The salmon is cold cured on the premises, and the taste is exceptional.
Wine tastings are scheduled for visitors to Athens, and on the top floor presentations are held during the year - either of the same quality from various regions or the same wine from various years.
