There's a few things you can find at Big Island's Bayfront Coffee, Kava & Tea Co. that's more than what's in the name. Although it's definitely a coffee and tea house, it moonlights as a place to find nightlife a few nights a week. This is where you'll find an eclectic array of musicians and performers, most from the alternative music scene of the area. From drum circles to lone performers to full bands, this is one of Hilo's newest places to enjoy a show and dance or enjoy a coconut shell full of the kava root, a traditional Polynesian drink.

Before the nightlife begins, you can sample kava, enjoy a cup of local organic coffee or a variety of tea. Located across from beautiful Hilo Bay, the eatery is nestled amongst Hilo's hippest restaurants and shops. Remember that Hilo is limited when it comes to nightlife and unique venues offering uncommon forms of nightlife (not your average club scene) are the majority of the selection.
Call ahead for a list of entertainment and performers. This place is what you could describe as a "hippie hangout," so be prepared for a friendly but unique array of people. This is far from your average bar.
