Recently renovated Turtle Bay Resort on the North Shore of Oahu is the only resort, or hotel for that matter, in the area. Boasting nearly 500 acres of pristine land on the water, the resort offers everything a person would need to relax on site, but is located close enough to popular attractions, beaches and restaurants that venturing off-property is easy.

Although Turtle Bay celebrated its 40th birthday in mid 2012, many new elements have been added at the hotel. Beautiful renovations to the lobby were completed and the new Lobby Bar was installed to offer light food, a full bar and comfy furniture to relax on while overlooking the ocean. Surfer, the Bar is a brand new bar with awesome nightlife, but it's more than that. They offer a full restaurant-style menu until 10 pm and families are welcome. Inside the surf-themed venue, they offer different forms of entertainment varying by the weekday. Mondays are Hawaiian music night, Tuesdays are open mic night, Wednesdays are for DJs and dancing, Thursdays offer a "Talk Story" where a person from the surf industry gives a talk on stage, and Fridays and Saturdays usually boast big-name bands. Karaoke happens each Sunday night starting at 7 pm.

Also located on-site is the amazing fine dining restaurant 21 Degrees North, with their custom martini menu and gourmet food inspired by local produce and meats. Family activities include a pool and hot tub, horseback riding, spa, beach, surf lessons, golf, tennis and an adventure center.
It's a great idea to stay in the country because it's a truly relaxing break from the bustling streets of Honolulu.
