The ultra-modern, cutting-edge lounge Plat 99 is located in downtown Indianapolis, inside The Alexander. Cuban-born artist Jorge Pardo created a cool and contemporary vibe at this Indy nightspot, including 99 blown-glass pendant lamps above the lounge and another 20 lamps suspended above the grand staircase. When dusk settles over the city, the pendant lamps seem to come alive and create a very colorful, very relaxing vibe.

A striking three-level bar, contemporary couches, high-top tables and a lovely outdoor deck offer plenty of seating choices. Opened in 2013, Plat 99 takes its unusual name from the exact plot (or plat) of land on which the bar is located.
The only bar that Pardo’s studio has designed in the United States outside of Los Angeles, Plat 99 is the first bar the studio has ever designed for a hotel. Plat 99 was intended as both a lounge and a work of art. The result is artsy and chic while still being comfortable, with a big helping of Hoosier hospitality.
Music is at a nice conversation level, and drinkers who tend to become loud seem to steer clear of Plat 99.
Unique cocktail concoctions from one of Indy’s top mixologists, Michael Gray, are sure to please. And if there isn’t something on the drink menu that strikes your fancy, tell the bartender your favorite liquor and what your taste buds are yearning for, and the bartender will whip up a special cocktail.

The drink list is an education in itself. Not only does it carry creative concoctions, but it also tells when the drink originated and by whom. Like the East India Cocktail made in 1882 by Harry Johnson, using cognac, raspberry liqueur, triplo, maraschino and angostura bitters. Or the Green Lantern, made by William Mohring in 2014 with mezcal, machu pisco, gin, egg white, simple syrup, lime and sea salt.
Under the direction of Chef Jeremy Martindale, the Plat 99 dining menu offers everything from short ribs to grilled cheese, edamame to porchetta panini and bunches of sweets. Not a typical bar menu, Plat 99 cuisine blends local ingredients into delicious dishes, such as corned beef sliders with cucumber kim-chi and hoisin aioli on a pretzel bun.

Raw bar options are handcrafted as diners watch. Dishes are designed for sharing, and they're brought to the table as completed. The local charcuteries board and local cheese board are among the most popular share items. The truffle oil popcorn complimentary for guests is always a pleaser.
