You might know Finn McCool's by their designation as the best neighborhood bar in New Orleans. Or, maybe it's their prowess in showing hard-to-find Euro sports - like hurling, cricket, rugby and soccer - at all times. Perhaps you come on Thursdays for their Scrabble competitions?
This Irish pub has also been known to make a play to pack their bar during American football games, or more specifically, New Orleans Saints games. Last year when the Saints were on the telly, Finn McCool's had a free buffet with a menu that rotated weekly. This year, pre-season is already underway, and the regular season will follow close behind. Who knows what the favored local pub has up its sleeve for this football season?

Finn McCool's sometimes even spices up their already good grub with specials during these games, like delicious Guinness mashed potato cake with sunny-side up eggs, Irish bacon sandwiches, falcon friccasse and grits and bagels with veggie cream cheese. (Definitely expect across-the-pond type of fare at Finn's. This is an Irish pub, after all.)
Football watching is usually accompanied by beer drinking, and since Finn McCool's is a bar, they'll have you hooked up with bucket specials throughout whatever game you've come to see. They've been known to offer $9 domestic or $12 import buckets while guests watch the Black and Gold destroy the opposition.
Finn McCool's is located on Banks Street in the Mid-City neighborhood of New Orleans. This is a quick cab ride in from the CBD / French Quarter. With most downtown bars rendered packed during football games, venturing outside to Finn McCool's is an advisable alternative.
