One of New Orleans top hotels gets a full redesign that secures its rating as a top Big Easy hotel
The W New Orleans-French Quarter has always been one of the city's top hotels. The company has never rested on its laurels, and in May of 2012, decided to undergo extensive renovations on all their rooms and the lobby. The end result is a hotel that fully incorporates local culture and flair into its architecture and room design.
The hotel features 97 guest rooms that now include either a "jazzy" or "mystery of the tarot" voodoo theme. Travelers can expect 40-inch plasma screens in their rooms with "jetpacks" (hook-ups to make computer visual transfer to television).
The lobby also received a face lift and is now referred to as the Living Room. A new fitness center (SWEAT) has been built, which is open 24 hours and features 1,500 square feet of training equipment. The best New Orleans hotels have outdoor courtyard pools. The W, which likes to be in that discussion, just built one of their own called WET. It's on the roof and features cabanas with televisions and food service.
Speaking of food, a new restaurant also opened inside the hotel called SoBou (south of Bourbon Street). The establishment keeps with the voodoo theme, offering many visual spectacles to go along with their delectable plates featuring fresh local ingredients.
