The popular music venue has evolved from its original tiny shoebox location downtown to a two-in-one destination venue up in Lower Charles Village.
It’s also scheduled a full roster of cool events for people eager to party after surviving a city-wide curfew.

So, what kind of entertainment might you find at Ottobar? Actually, Ottobar is not just one type of place or another.
Upstairs has pool tables, a sofa, a small performance space, a bar and an altogether intimate, relaxed atmosphere. You can actually have a conversation!
Don’t worry: this is no throw-away space. The upstairs venue is conducive to offbeat fun, in a 21-plus way.
Geeks Night Out! – one of their unique events – is brought to you by The Ottobar and Collectors Corner. It’s a monthly celebration dedicated to comics, video games, boardgames, cartoons, music, movies, toys and all things nerdy.
Play their games or bring your own. Cosplayers get two-for-one drinks.
Here’s another example of one of the outside-the-box upstairs party nights: Astronomy on Tap + Space Dance, three entertaining talks followed by a cosmic dance party.
At Astronomy on Tap, you can drink and learn about the universe! They've previously featured talks by Mars One Finalist, Sonia van Meter, Space Telescope Science Institute’s own Dr. Joel Green, as well head honcho of Astronomy on Tap NYC (and co-creator of the astronomy fashion blog Startorialist) Emily Rice.
Patrons are invited to stick around afterward to mingle with astronomers, win some space swag and show off their dance moves at Space Dance, which features house, nu-disco, pop, etc. with DJ GRIMSBY. Dancers watch on while celestial videos play on the big screen.
Downstairs tends to feature local bands, up-and-coming touring bands and bands living their golden years. Because of the configuration – with a comfortable seated balcony and back bar with tables – it makes for intimate viewing of the bands.
Some of the bands that have appeared at the newer location include Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Drive-By Truckers, Dinosaur Jr, TV On the Radio, The Breeders, Maroon 5, Supersuckers, Quiet Riot, KRS-ONE, Jonathan Richman, David Cross, Michael Ian Black, At the Drive-in, Atmosphere, The Melvins, Coheed and Cambria, Bouncing Souls and Animal Collective.
Local artists have included Lake Trout, The Glenmont Popes, Fishnet Stalkers, Thrushes, Celebration, Ponytail, Misery Index and Prince Charming Chazz.
Ottobar features bars upstairs and downstairs, but doesn't serve food. It’s not a tragedy, as a meat-centric gastropub has opened across the street and they’re also a block away from Korea Town, with several options open until 4 a.m.
